My PORTEOUS
family is pictured first. If any picture shown is identified incorrectly,
please notify me with the correction. Dates of most pictures are approximate.
Most of my images are scans of lesser quality originals. I have done my best
to clean up or enhance these images without losing the essence of the subject
matter. Most images come from family albums and boxes of old pictures that
were my grandmother Carrie's unless otherwise credited. Thanks to all family
and friends who contributed pictures to this site.
At the bottom there are some people I would like to identify.
If you know who they are, please contact me.

| I have identified the man standing on the breaker as my great-great uncle James VAMPLEW son of James and Anne. The pins on the left side of his suit breast are the same ones on other pictures I have of him. I think the woman could possibly be his mother Anne [ROUSE]. Really hard to tell.
James and his two brothers, Henry and John Rouse VAMPLEW made the trip over to Lincolnshire around 1902. I am wondering now, what part of the shore was this picture taken. Notice the windmill in the background on the left and the pier behind James. |

Rouse
I have included these pictures because of influence John Rouse had on my great
grandparents' decision to migrate to Lake County in 1870. He is Mary Ann's
mother's brother.
