William Dennis PORTEOUS and Carrie Ida SNYDERMarried 23 Oct 1895Wedding was held in the Bride's home in Volo, Illinois. The Marriage License was issued on 22 Oct 1895. Groom was 28 and Bride 26.

Wedding announcement in local paper:
About sixty friends and relatives gathered a the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder, of Fremont, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1895, to witness the marriage of their dughter Carrie to William D. Porteous. At high noon the bridal party appeared, Miss Lillian Coudrey acting as bridesmaid, and James W. Vanplew as best man, Rev. Dibble officiating. The bride was attired in heliotrope colored silk and wore cream colored teas roses. Congratulations followed the ceremony, after which the guests were invited to partake of a bountiful repast. In the afternoon the guests were entertained with music, both instrumental and vocal.

William Dennis PORTAS and Elizabeth DOBBSMarried 11 Jun 1840<arroage sp;e,mozed at tje Regoster Pffoce om tje District of Louth in the County of Lincon. Both living in North Cockerington at the time of marriage. Witnesses: William (the mark of X) Lot? and Hannah (the mark of X) Dobbs.

Joseph PORTAS and Mary DENNISMarried 15 May 1809Alford Parish (St. Wilfrid's church), Lincolnshire, England. Joseph Portas of Ludburgh bachelor... Married in this church by Banns. Witnesses: William Reynolds and John Sonfleet. I'm not sure these witnesses are of any relation to the bride and groom since William and John's names show up on several other records for that church.

Married in the Parish church (Kirkby on Bain). Witnesses: John Southwell and John Lenton. I don't know if the witnesses have any connection to the family. I haven't seen these names anywhere else in my research.
